5 Ways to Cut Down Your Wedding Guest List

You’ve finally picked out your New Braunfels wedding venue and you’re thrilled to move forward with planning, but you soon realize your budget won’t allow as many people as you had hoped.

Or maybe the venue isn’t big enough to accommodate all of your guests. This can be a real bummer, but worry not, I have a few tips that can help!

1. 3-year rule: Keep your guest list to people you’ve spoken to within the past 3 years. Just like cleaning out your closet but much more lenient with time! You can do this!

1. Ring it in: Reserve plus-ones for those who are married, engaged, or in a serious relationship. A good rule of thumb is if you haven’t met, seen, or heard of your guests significant other, chances are it’s not that serious.

1. Give a number: So you’re getting married and all of a sudden your mother has 10 best friends you’ve never heard of, all of whom must be invited to your wedding. Give your parents a number. Tell them they are allowed X amount of guests, that way they can make the hard choices in deciding who that will be.

1. Parental-aid: If your family insists on inviting friends and relatives that you rarely speak to, or have never met at all, see if they can assist you by paying for those guests. They’re your parents, so odds are they like you and are willing to help in any way they can.

1. Taco-bout it: Let’s bring it back to tip #1, but this time think of your relationship with that person 3 years from now. If you don’t see yourself catching up over tacos sometime in the near future, then you probably won’t miss them at your wedding.
